Fall Chinook Salmon 2019

Regulations 2019

With back to back low pressure systems the past ten days, both the Chinook and Coho are throughout the Stamp River system already.

With moderate/high summer conditions the fish have lots of cover. Fly fishing and gear fishing, its all producing nice encounters.

We are fishing now through October with dates open.

Run Size Update:

Somass/Robertson Creek Hatchery Chinook:
The forecast terminal return of adult Stamp/RCH Chinook to Barkley Sound and Alberni Inlet in 2019 is approximately 130,000 (range 97,000 to 165,000). The predicted adult age composition is 2%, 85% and 13% of 3, 4 and 5-year old fish, respectively. With this expected age composition and a target of 39M eggs, the escapement target is approximately 21,000.

This means a big surplus of Chinook Salmon to the system.!
