Greetings again friends and fellow anglers,
Full steam mid-season here in Kyuquot Sound — squid has been the key word all summer, and the fishing's been good to us. The weather, less so: 4 days sun, 6 days rain, repeat. Not the usual for summer.
On the side, we've been out with drones, underwater cams, and 360s capturing the place the way you remember it. Follow along on Instagram (link at bottom of page)— it's some of our best footage yet.
We are in Kyuquot until Sept 5th and open the Stamp River Lodge on September 12th

2026 has shaped up to be one of the best squid years in a while. Often nearshore Chinook have mixed prey profiles including baby herring, needle fish and squid, but this year they are super focused on squid and their bellies full of them. |

New DJI Air 3S Drone joins the fleet!
Here is David and guests aboard the Maverick fishing spring Island. Marilyn is drifting about a mile away with the controller aboard CenterFin, can't say catching it is easy with a sea and a few knots of wind. Bandages handy!
